Veterinary Assistant

Born and raised in a small town in Pennsylvania, moved to the Columbia River Gorge the winter of 2017. I worked as a kayak instructor and raft guide in the summer, at a ski/snowboard rental shop in the winters at Mt Hood, and was an outdoor educator in the falls in California or Alabama.

I have three pets currently- Metlako a 4 yr old tuxedo cat, Freyja (aka Chunky Monkey) a1 yr old long haired calico, and a 1 yr old shepsky mix named Talkeetna. I chose to work in the veterinary field because I was looking for a change. I've always loved being around animals and having an active job. Being an assistant is different everyday, you are always moving and faced with different challenges. Working on the river involved ever moving factors, working with different people and personalities as a team, and learning to navigate challenges day to day. Although I'm not outdoors everyday anymore, working at Tucker Road Animal Hospital involves a lot of similar challenges and variety, which keeps things interesting.

I enjoy traveling, kayaking or rafting rivers, hiking and camping, and hanging out at home with the fur babies. Fun fact: I have loved birds since I was little, with my top five favorites being: the osprey, barn owl, common loon, american kestrel, and the corvids family of birds (particularly ravens, crows, and magpies).
